Jen & Phil buy an apple orchard and get married. It’s perfect really.

Phil & Jen get married in Bayfield!!! They are very ambitious but still very normal people. (Normal is good. I promise.) According to me. In one months time they moved & bought a house in Washburn, Wi, bought a apple orchard outside of Bayfield, & got married. That’s a lot man, that’s a lot. I hadn’t met them before the wedding but I knew I would like them cause they sent a photo & Phil had a beard. Dudes with beards are usually awesome. Right? I think so.

On my drive up to the Wisconsin North there was already snow!! It was crazytown. I drove up on Oct 24th. Like I said-Crazy town!! The weather turned out to be “hey, this isn’t so bad”. We got to go to Jen & Phil’s apple orchard for photos & then to the Lake Superier water. It’s really a dream come true. There was the prefect amount of inappropiate jokes from groomsmen. The gals were a delight. An all around great day!!

oh & then the most amazing thing happened during the toasts. The toasts are usually one of my favorites of the evening. But this was magical. The best lady bridesmaid, who is clearly not any type of professional singer, sang a whole song about her BFF Jen to some famous song. Jen- what was the song? It was a delight. Everybody was happy. I know this cause I looked around and saw it.

oh, & I’m pretty sure I heard Phil doing some Chicken dance trash talking. He danced to it. He loved it.

hey! it’s my people!!!!

It’s my people! We had a family vaca at my parents house this summer. I bet it was June. and I’m finally getting around to blogging now!! I’m mostly blogging cause bro in law Andy is really putting the pressure on. SO HERE YA GO ANDY! oxox. I know why you wanted to see the photos–cause I took some great photos of Leo-the cutest nephew in the whole world. I have a pretty great family. I’m lucky. They are nice and nice to me.

I also have the cutest niece in the world. Her name is Zoe. She was a bit in a mood during this trip but I’ve seen here a few times since and she is lov’n life. Having the best time ever.

We did fun things like went fishing at somebody’s little pond. We walked through their field to get there. Who’s pond is that I wonder…..whatever. And there was a lot of riding in this wagon behind the lawn mower. That was great. Give me a beer and sure I’ll ride behind the lawn mower. Why not? There was also sprinkler fun and lawn chair sitting.

One Barrel Brunch!

I whole heartedly believe brunch is mostly about the drinks. The more drinks you have the better the brunch. The very last photo in this blog is one of my favorites. There was Alterra Coffee, this spritzer/white wine magical punch drink, and a beery mary! I think about brunch all week long.

I shot the very first brunch at One Barrel Brewing!  This thing happened where the Nostrano people showed up  with food and they call it a pop up brunch! Right? They all talked about it like it’s a thing so I got on board and was hip to the pop up idea of food. It does seem very smart and delicious. Best grits i’ve ever had! I mean the whole idea is just so cute. First the drinks show up and then different courses of food came -drinks were refilled and people were mingling. It was amazing. OH, and there was also this bourbon pudding at the end. I’m still thinking about that.

07.06.2012 :: Krista & Ryan :: rooftop weddings are delightful.

Ok, I have some really good plans for my wedding. I thought I had everything all worked out and then I went to Ryan & Krista’s wedding on top of the Children’s Museum and everything has changed. It was amazing! The coolest location/space ever! trees on a rooftop! I love it! There is a little field of basil planted up there. I may have left with a pocket full of basil. i’m kidding.

I’d never been to the Children”s museum before and damn girl!!! that place if fuuuunnn!!! They do this fun event for adults once every two months where they open up the museum in the evening for adults and & can get beers and wine and play with all the kid stuff! I’m going to sures! OH, it’s called Adult Swim. Google it. I’ll see you there.

The rooftop where the wedding/reception took place was already perfect- Krista & Ryan added some nice little touches as well! I love a really pretty wedding-like the cute stuff they add- and I also love a low key wedding. This wedding was both.  It was one of the smallest weddings I’ve shot which made it feel really intimate. It also made me feel a little like the paparazzi-I don’t feel like I stalked people too much! That was good. The beautiful food was made by the hip Underground kitchen dudes.

I’ve known Ryan & Krista for awhile–I mostly see them at biking & drinking events. If there is an event that involves drinking + biking there is a 94% chance I will see them. They are a great couple and think they compliment each other really well. I wonder if they will think it’s weird I’m writing that. I’m pretty sure i’m right though.

Oh man, did Krista wear the cutest little polka dotted dress or what?? yes she did. & Ryan is looking very handsome in his vest. more dudes should wear cute vests. I call.

Congratulations guys! kick some ass being married. ox sv

James & Shawnee :: 06.16.2012

James and Shawnee got married!!!! This was a great wedding-probably one of the best. ever. in the history of getting married. They got a standing ovation after the kiss. I don’t think that’s normal, their friends are pretty awesome. or wait–they are pretty awesome. Maybe a combination of both. Probably this.

The wedding & reception was at the lovely badger barns. It’s a great location for a ceremony-reception-dance- & photos!!!! I feel like I have so much to say about James and Shawnee and here I am now and I can’t think of what to write. Most of the time when I shoot a wedding people ask me “oh, how do you know the couple?” usually my answer is that they hired me and I know them now and think they are great! I think this of most of my couples!! But with Shawnee & James it felt like I really did know them before.  I see them around town all the time-they are good people to be seeing around!!!  Do you ever see someone and pretend to be talking on your phone? i don’t do that when I see the J&S team.

Oh man, Shawnee’s mom cracked me up. She was funny! kinda reminded me of my mom maybe. HULLA HOOPS! how fun are hulla hoops!! I also learned at this wedding if you bring a few blow up balls kids will go crazy. I loved their ceremony. People said nice things to them–it’s my favorite. I know my thoughts are kinda random. The talented Nicole Cooke second shot this wedding with me. I’m pretty sure we kicked some ass. ox

James & Shawnee’s friends and family were 20% happier than the average person! I sometimes make up statistics. You should too. This is was just a nice place to be on the 16th. I’m so happy I got the chance to shoot their wedding.

06.10.12 :: Molly & Russ

I loved meeting Molly and Russ and doing their engagement photos and now shooting their wedding!!! It felt like I was going to a friends wedding. I think I write this a lot. Mostly only  awesome people have me shoot their weddings! They are perfect together! I love how molly is always telling me how handsome Russ is. This might be because i’m telling them they are look’n good and she mostly replies with a “oh, i know, isn’t Russ handsome.” so cute!

Molli & Russ had a morning-ish wedding at the tini tiny church at the James Madison Park. After the wedding we made a quick stop at the capitol and then to the reception at Jonny Delmonico’s. I took the sweet ass limo (as Molly would call it) with them to the reception. While walking back to the james madison park I stopped at the crema cafe and drank a iced coffee. I looked in the mirror and it was pretty rough. Good thing everyone at the wedding is looking at the cute bride!!! OH! man! did you see Molly’s dress! AMAZING!!

MARCH! I WILL EAT YOU MARCH!

MARCH-PHOTO-A-DAY!!!!

ok, I don’t know why i named march “march! i will eat you march!” but it just felt right. Yeah, March was pretty good. I put this month in order of the days, which is pretty fun.  I didn’t include everyday in the blog. Some of the photos are boring.

It seems like I might be doing the same things over & over. Scrabble & Bingo!! I love scrabble & bingo apparently. I am going to quit going to bingo for the summer months (& play volleyball instead!!) but i’ll be back when it’s cold again. I will play scrabble all summer. Let me know when you want to play. oxox

OH! the most exciting thing happened in March! My little sister had a baby! She’s not that little, she’s 30. The baby is little though. She had a cute cute cute little girl and named her Zoe Zadie. ZZ baby face is what i think i will call her. Theresa & Gary are going to be good at it! I’ve been trying to shoot more weddings in the Bayfield area so I can hang out with them more and also because it is magical in northern Wisconsin. Oh, they live in Ashland, WI. You should go there!!!

What else happened in March, it was kinda long ago. I’m slacking on my blogging! Engagement photos, book club, motorcycle & bike rides, sexy time photos for kristen (you should get some done! contact me!), marigolds at the Arboretum, & sushi at the Muramoto. Oh, I tried to not drink for a week. I didn’t drink for 5 days. Which is very close to a week.

I bought a lawn chair at a garage sale. I love this lawn chair. It made it in 3 photos this month. If you come over to my place you can sit in it. or I can bring it to you. Either is fine with me.

Indestrutible Tour-Charlotte, NC

North Carolina! We made it! My friend Tina lives in Charlotte so it was nice to have a real bed & shower! we shot some really great things in charlotte also-good worky things. It was 100% all leads that Tina gave us. Tina is the best! I’m going to caption these photos, I’m starting to forget what is what & where these days. so much traveling! I asked Eric & Nick how long they keep this up and Eric said “indefinitely” I liked that answer. I could do this for awhile longer. In my perfect world I’d like to park the RV longer in one spot & get out the bikes more. We’re so go! go! go!

Waffle House in North Carolina. Leaving Greensboro to get to Charlotte we saw the waffle house. I was so excited! Since this waffle house i’ve seen like 59 more. i’m not as excited anymore.  but but but….they were nice to us. most people are. but we’re nice back. so there’s that.
This is Jamie! He is an electrician. I liked him. Easy to talk to, easy to hang out with. Like most of the people we’ve interviewed on this trip. Oh & the best thing about him is that he (for reals!) keeps on older rayovac flashlight in his front pocket all the time. he’s had it for 4 years now. He works out of his house & we went with him to a local barber shop to get photos of him doing some electrical work.

Tina took us to the downtown Charlotte! Mostly we were excited to drink a beer but we first went to take photos of iconic-ness Charlotte for work. we’re hard workers. uh huh. We went to a sculpture garden by the art museum. It was really cool stuff. we took a group photo. I love a group pyramid. people should do this more often. The world should have more sculptures you can climb on. i hope it was ok we climbed on them.
we look like this a lot. sometimes we might just run out of things to say to each other.
This is Chris from Sign World. Chris is the middle of making a Coca Cola billboard. It’s huge! & it’s 3D-ish made of tin or something. he has a giant press like tool that doesn’t even need electrical cords. that’s a real tool! He is one of two people that work in the production part of Sign World. It was nice….he had some music going & a garage door open off to the side….fresh air & working with his hands. seems like a good gig. Right across the street from Sign World was a boat sales & repair place.  So we strolled on over to see if they would be interested in trying out or flashlights and putting them to the test. We talked to a repair guy for a few minutes and took some photos of an engine he was working on. He’s cute with a nice smile. Oh, & this is a rare boat. There are only some left. Whatever the some number is….I guess it’s not very many. you know I think 5 is not very many but i’m sure it’s more like 5,000. I wish i had stars on my car. oh,
